Why Sky Glass won’t connect to WiFi?

A lot of times, your Sky Glass TV fails to connect to WiFi. This problem can be frustrating as it robs you of viewing content on native streaming apps that rely on the internet, leaving you with Freeview channels.

Why is my Sky Glass not connecting to WiFi?

If Sky Glass won’t connect to WiFi or you’re stuck on the “Network setup” screen, most probably, the WiFi signals are out of reach, the TV software is glitching, or the router is disconnecting the internet intermittently.

How to get WiFi working again on Sky Glass?

To fix WiFi connectivity on your Sky Glass, turn off the router or hub, wait a few minutes, switch it on again, and wait for the lights to come on and become stable. If you have recently moved your Sky Glass TV and router away from each other, place them close for better WiFi signals.

Now, let’s explore all the available solutions in detail to get WiFi working again on your Sky Glass.

1. Power Cycle Your TV

Your Sky Glass can often glitch without any reason, and this might be why you are experiencing WiFi connectivity problems. So the first thing to do here is to power cycle the TV with these steps:

  • Turn off the Glass TV with the remote.
  • Pull out all the cables, including the Power cable.
  • Also, plug the power cable out of the mains.
  • Wait 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect all the cables, switch on the mains, and turn your TV on.
  • Open any streaming app; WiFi access is restored if the content starts to play.

2. Update Network Configurations

Sometimes, when you change the network service you are using, Sky Glass fails to connect to the internet because you need to update the TV network settings. Here’s how:

  • Press the button with the Home icon on your Sky Glass remote and select Settings from the menu.
  • Choose Network.
  • Keep pressing right till you see Reset; press Select.
  • Press right again and choose the Confirm option to proceed.
  • Wait for the network list to populate, choose your new provider, and press Select.
  • Press the Home button on the remote to finish updating network settings and verify the fix.

3. Restart Your Router

One of the main reasons why your Sky Glass won’t connect to WiFi is if the internet speed is poor. Rebooting your router is the easiest way to fix this:

  • Press the Power button on the router to switch it off. If your router has no switch, simply pull off the power cable from the back.
  • Remove all the cables and plug out the power cable from the main socket.
  • Wait 3-5 minutes.
  • Plug it back into the mains and reconnect all the other wires to their designated ports at the back of the router.
  • Press the Power button on the router to turn it on, and wait for the lights to come on and stabilize.
  • Finally, switch on your Sky Glass and see if it can access and connect to WiFi

4. Move Devices Closer

If you’ve recently moved your Sky Glass TV away from the router, there is a possibility that it fails to receive good WiFi signals, resulting in connectivity issues. So, it is best to place the TV in the previous location or move the router closer to the new area where you have placed it.

Note: You can also use WiFi range extenders to attenuate the signals reaching the TV, which is placed far from the router.

5. Factory Reset Glass TV

Like any device’s firmware, your Sky Glass software is prone to errors and malfunctions, such as stopping to connect to the internet. A factory reset will probably resolve the issue.

  • Navigate to Settings.
  • Select System Management
  • Choose Resets and Updates.
  • Select Factory Reset and press Confirm.

6. Contact Your Network Provider

If all of the above solutions fail, check other devices in your home to see if WiFi is connected or working fine on them. If not, your network provider can be the source of the issue. So contact them and see if the service is experiencing an outage, and inquire how long it would take to restore the internet.

Note: You can also test your internet connection online if you have Sky Broadband network service.

Takeaway

With these 6 fixes,  we hope that you can now enjoy various programs streaming on Sky Glass native apps. You can also complain to Sky support and book a technician to come and take a look at the TV for hardware errors.
