Disney+ offers its subscribers a variety of TV shows, movies, documentaries, and more. But sometimes, users complain that the app is not working or accessible while trying to open it or stream its content on Sky Glass.
Why is Disney+ suddenly not working on my Sky Glass?
Disney+ not working on your Sky Glass is most likely because of temporary device or app glitches, network issues (Error 1026), or IP blocking. The issue might also be that you have subscribed directly from Sky Glass, or the Disney service is down.
How to fix Disney+ on Sky Glass TV?
To fix Disney+ on Sky Glass, perform a power cycle by unplugging the TV for 5 minutes to clear glitches, which is better than a software update. If issues persist, force an app refresh in settings or ensure your Disney+ subscription is properly linked through Sky.
1. Restart Sky Glass through the settings menu
The software in your Sky Glass is pretty glitchy, and this alone might be the reason you are experiencing a strange issue while streaming Disney+ on it. Instead of a power cycle this time, go to the TV settings, and from there, navigate to System Management > Resets & Updates. Here, select Restart Device rather than the factory reset.
Now, your TV will take about 3 minutes to fully reboot. In the meantime, you’ll see the black screen most often. After that, launch the Disney+ app and see if this helped.
2. Refresh the Disney+ App
The streaming apps on Sky Glass often need resetting or refreshing to fix the bugs that are causing them not to load. The same is with Disney+. So, all you need to do is simply refresh it, and your problem might be fixed.
3. Check the Service Status
When the Disney+ service is down, the app won’t open, or the content won’t load on any device, including Sky Glass. To confirm this, head to the Down Detector website and verify that the service is experiencing an outage. You can also check the comments section below to see if other users are facing the same issue.
Once confirmed, the only thing left here to do is wait patiently until the problem is fixed at Disney’s end and the service is back up and running. Usually, this may take a few hours to a whole day.
4. Resubscribe Directly From Disney+
You may be experiencing the issue if you have subscribed to the Disney+ service through Sky Glass. If so, a quick workaround is to unsubscribe from Sky, head to the Disney+ website, and resubscribe from there.
The best part is that after subscribing to the service directly from Disney+, you can log in to the Disney app on any device and stream content without any issues. While at it, it is possible to sign up for special deals, which may cost less than what you are paying through Sky.
5. Reboot Router
If you see Error 1026 while opening the Disney+ app on your Sky Glass, it is often due to an ISP IP address issue. To confirm an IP block, connect your Sky Glass TV to your mobile phone’s hotspot data. If Disney+ loads perfectly on mobile data, your home broadband IP is definitely blacklisted by Disney.
The fix here is to power off your broadband router for about 30 minutes to force a new IP address. Leaving it off this long forces your ISP to assign your household a brand-new public IP address when it reboots.
How to activate Disney+ on Sky Glass?
To activate Disney+ on Sky Glass, open the app from the Apps rail. If you have a subscription through Sky, activate it via the on-screen prompt or by visiting “sky.com/disneyplus-activate” to link your account. New users can subscribe via the Sky Shop.
